MUSKULOSKELETAL COSTUME

CREATED

2018

FOR

Gidget Gravedigger

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The client wanted a skeleton costume for a new act. Her original vision was quite different from the direction we decided on, and ultimately, we decided that her costume needed some more "human remains".

Dress layer:

First is a detachable layer of “skin", embellished with sequinned "veins", It trails behind a dress made of “stretchy muscles”. The dress peels away to mimic some of the elasticity that muscles would have.

Skeleton layer:

This was created in a time intensive process of cutting and shaping the lace to mimic the bones of a skeleton. It was mostly hand sewn in place and much of it was done with the client was modelling. Options were limited for lace at the time and we liked the look of the lace laying slightly asymmetrical and no back ribs on the body.

Collar piece: Not shown
